Postgraduate Programs

The thesis track requires you to conduct original research and produce a formal thesis document (typically 15,000–25,000 words) under the supervision of a faculty advisor. This track is ideal for students interested in academic careers or doctoral studies. The non-thesis (capstone) track replaces the thesis with an applied project that solves a real-world problem, plus additional coursework. This is better suited for industry-focused professionals.

Absolutely. Over 85% of our master's students are working professionals. Our programs are designed with this in mind — asynchronous lectures, flexible deadlines within each module, and live sessions scheduled at accessible times across multiple time zones. Most students dedicate 15–20 hours per week to their studies.

Master's programs are 100% online with no mandatory residencies. Ph.D. programs include 2 optional brief residencies (3–5 days each) per year for intensive workshops, dissertation defenses, and networking. These may be attended virtually if travel is not possible.

Yes. IHU accepts transfer of up to 9 graduate credits (approximately 25% of the degree) from accredited institutions, subject to review by the academic registrar and the program director. Credits must be graduate-level, earned within the last 5 years, with a grade of B or above.

Each doctoral candidate is assigned a primary supervisor (and optionally a co-supervisor) based on research interest alignment. You'll have regular virtual meetings (typically bi-weekly), milestone reviews every semester, and access to a doctoral committee for your qualifying exam and dissertation defense.
